From a historical point of view the market for mobile data has truly evolved with impressive rates, and the outlook for coming years is just as impressive. Already now mobile data accounts for approximately 25% of ARPU for European operators and this number is expected to reach 35% by 2008 (source: various international studies)

According to the various studies available, the total market for mobile data services is expected to rise above a staggering 100 billion Euros in 2008: half of this market being represented by mobile messaging.

Since the launch of the mobile services in the late 1990's the market has evolved tremendously. Some services believed to become the next "killer application" failed, whereas other mobile applications have demonstrated significant growth rates from the very start. Not surprisingly, amongst the successful services are those that allow people to communicate and create 'virtual' relations.
